Oil Painting on canvas.

(Excuse my bad photographer skills... Im new with a camera and I found it quite hard to get a decent picture that got all the colors right.. tried to adjust it as close to what they look like in real!)

You think the proportions of the horse seems a bit off? Might be because my model wasn't a live horse at all, but a Chinese horse porcelain sculpture.. :) .. What imagination can do to anything!

The sketch and the idea for this painting came to life during ex. philosophy class. We were talking about that a person would function best when they do what they were meant to, and I just started doodling.. It evolved, and this is the result. This is, so far, one of my favorites.. Im not going to sell this piece, it will hang on my own wall for my own pleasure :) Finally, something for me..

I would love to hear what you think about this painting :)

Okie dokie! Critique as requested!
I like the colors. :) They are very soft and the black on the horse's mane and tail stand out very nicely. Anatomy on the horse is a little off, not by much (its mainly the face) but that doesn't really matter since it is a fantasy piece.
Not really sure what is on the horses back... I'm a little confused.
Since the horse isn't practically transparent to the back ground, I don't think the rider should be either. But since I assume the horse is the center of the attention, I can see what you were doing.
Details are great! I love the tassels on the harness! though I don't see any shading on the horse behind them... so they don't really stand out and look 3 dimensional. And since I say that, horse needs more shadow to show muscles.
I love how you used the oil. Blending the horse into the background a little really gives it a sureal feel and is quite appealing.
Over all, I feel it is a beautiful piece (you used one of my favorite colors as a theme) and is deserving of any great compliments.
