Shira - Last hunt by Midnight-Sun-Art Shira - Last hunt by Midnight-Sun-Art
Shira - meaning: the one who sings/ poetry .

She's a Swedish White Elkhound. At the age of 12, she has her last hunt. 36 moose, 11 hunts. An veteran goes of duty.
I'm happy to have her staying with me for her old days. An excellent dog, and so beautiful. I'm very proud of her!

UPDATE: the 18.June Shira suddenly passed away. She is dearly missed
( 12. july: updated the picture; edited it for better sharpness and changed the colors a bit)

They do :) It is now recognized as a separate breed from the other one (also called jamthound). So, thats why they're now known as the swedish white. But its a very new breed, it was recognized and accepted as a separate breed in sweden in 1993. In norway in 1995. I don't know about other countries, as it is very rare outside of scandinavia. But it is VERY different from the jamthound. My dad owns a jamthound, so I really get to compare these two breeds. The swedish white is much easier to handle, less "aggressive" out in the field, smaller and "nicer". The jamt is quite a noisydog, much wilder, compared, and needs a more experienced handler :)
